Rotterdam native Ferry Corsten has been causing a stir over the past year with a series of collaborative releases as part of his UNITY project, including tracks alongside heavyweight names in the trance community such as Paul Oakenfold, DIM3NSION, Jordan Suckley and most recently Ilan Bluestone, and now Ferry returns to take the production reigns on his own once again. Ferry provides fans with the first solely Corsten produced record in a while, drafting in singer/songwriter NEVVE, an artist whose vocal talents have been used across a wide array of styles, with features appearing on the likes of Dim Mak, Monstercat, RCA and Spinnin’, for ‘Freefall’, a track drenched in Ferry’s signature sound.
The single displays elements from a diverse range of genres, with progressive and electro influences underpinned by an unmistakably trance foundation. The lofty vocals of NEVVE elevate the track, providing a positively uplifting message intended to inspire, while tight plucks and guitar licks display Ferry’s broad production capabilities, as they all combine seamlessly to produce a tightly woven track that is better collectively than the sum of its parts. The impressive synth work sits atop expertly programmed drums, toms and hats that ensure the track is bound for the dancefloor.
As each year passes, Ferry continues to marry new ideas and inspirations with a trademark sound that has garnered so much attention from his loyal fanbase and further afield over the years, ensuring a continual progression that always stays one step-ahead and cements Ferry Corsten’s standing as a purveyor of forward-thinking electronic music, and with ‘Freefall’ that visionary approach is on display in abundance.
‘Freefall’ is available now via Flashover Recordings.
